Frequently asked questions
Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are decoded by your browser's Web Audio API, and editing and MP3 encoding happen in JavaScript on your own device. The only extra download is the open-source MP3 encoder script, fetched the first time you export an MP3. Nothing you open or record is sent to a server.
Which audio formats can I open and save?
You can open anything your browser can decode, which in Chrome, Edge and Firefox includes MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus and WebM. Safari support for OGG depends on the version. The editing tools save MP3 at 96 to 320 kbps or 16-bit WAV.
Do these audio tools work on a phone?
Yes. The cutter, converter, voice recorder, tuner, metronome, piano and the rest work in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. Whole files are decoded into memory as uncompressed audio, so very long recordings can be slow on phones with little RAM. On iPhone, turn off silent mode if you hear nothing.
Are the audio tools really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account, no watermark on exported files and no cap on how many files you process. The only practical limit is your device's memory and processing speed, since all the work happens locally in your browser.
