Frequently asked questions
Are these PDF tools really free?
Yes. All twelve PDF tools are free to use with no account, no daily limit and no watermark on your files. The processing happens on your own computer or phone, so there is no server cost per file that would need to be passed on to you.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The tools load open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and Mozilla's pdf.js) into the page and process your file locally with JavaScript. Your PDF is read from your disk into browser memory and the result is saved straight back to your device. Nothing is sent to PanDev.
Can I use the PDF tools on my phone?
Yes. They work in mobile Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Page reordering uses a drag handle that works with touch, and you can draw a signature with your finger. Very large PDFs can be slow on older phones because everything runs on the device itself.
Do the tools work with password-protected PDFs?
Not reliably. A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be read until you remove the protection in the app that created it or in a PDF reader. Files with only editing restrictions may open, but the tools will warn you that the output could be blank or broken.
