How to convert images to PNG, JPG or WebP
- Drop your images into the box or click to browse. Mixed formats are fine.
- Choose the target format: PNG, JPG or WebP.
- Set the quality, a background color for transparent areas when saving JPG, and a scale if you are converting SVG.
- Click Convert, then download files one by one or all at once as a ZIP.
What you can do with Image Converter
- Common formats in one place
- Reads PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF, ICO and SVG, and converts them to PNG, JPG or WebP with one click.
- Batch conversion
- Drop a folder's worth of images, convert them in one pass with a progress bar, and download everything as a single ZIP.
- SVG to PNG at any scale
- Rasterize vector files at 1×, 2×, 3×, 4× or 8× their natural size for crisp PNGs on high-density screens.
- JPG background color
- JPG has no transparency, so you choose the color that fills transparent areas instead of getting unexpected black or white.
- Quality control
- Set JPG and WebP quality from 10 to 100. PNG output is always lossless and ignores the slider.
PNG vs JPG vs WebP vs SVG: which format to use
Each image format has a job. JPG is best for photos and is accepted everywhere, but it is lossy and has no transparency. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it right for logos, screenshots and graphics with text, though photos saved as PNG are large. WebP does both: lossy or lossless compression, transparency, and files roughly 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at similar quality. Convert WebP to PNG or JPG when an older app, print shop or upload form refuses WebP, and convert PNG to WebP or JPG to make photos lighter.
SVG is a vector format, so it has no fixed pixel size. The converter reads the width, height and viewBox, then renders it at the scale you choose; 2× is a good default for app icons and retina displays. SVGs that load external images or web fonts may not render, because the browser draws them in isolation. Converting between lossy formats repeatedly loses a little quality each time, so keep the original. Animated GIFs are converted from their first frame only.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded during conversion?
No. The browser decodes each image, draws it on a canvas and encodes the new format on your device. Nothing goes to a server, so conversion is instant and private, and it works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I convert HEIC iPhone photos to JPG?
Only in Safari on Mac, iPhone or iPad, because Safari is currently the only browser that can decode HEIC natively. Open this page in Safari, drop the HEIC files and choose JPG. In Chrome, Firefox or Edge, HEIC files will show an error instead.
Why did my transparent PNG get a white background as JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels must be filled with a solid color. The JPG background picker sets that color, white by default. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Can I convert images to AVIF, ICO or GIF?
The converter outputs PNG, JPG and WebP, the formats every browser can encode. For an .ico file, use the Favicon Generator, which builds a real multi-size ICO. To create an animated GIF, use the Video to GIF tool.
Is WebP export supported in every browser?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox can save WebP. Some Safari versions cannot encode WebP from a canvas; if that happens, the tool shows a notice and saves a PNG instead so you still get a usable file. Every current browser can open WebP images.
