What you can do with Split PDF

Flexible page ranges
Type ranges like 1-3, 5, 10-12. An open range such as 8- runs to the last page, and 5-1 extracts pages in reverse.
Custom page order
Pages are kept in the order you type them, so 4, 1-3 moves page 4 to the front of the new PDF.
Every page as a file
Burst a document into one PDF per page, delivered together as a single ZIP with numbered file names.
Equal chunks
Split a long document every N pages, for example every 2 pages for double-sided forms or every 10 for chapters.
Live summary
Before you split, the tool tells you how many files and pages you will get and flags any page number that is out of range.

Splitting PDFs by range, page or chunk

Splitting a PDF here does not re-render anything. The tool copies the selected page objects into a new document with pdf-lib, so text stays searchable and images keep their resolution. Each output file is named after the source and its pages, such as report-p1-3.pdf, which makes a ZIP of many parts easy to sort. When the result is a single file you download it directly; when there are several, they are bundled into one ZIP so your browser does not ask you to approve a dozen separate downloads.

Common reasons to split a PDF include sending only the relevant pages of a contract, separating a batch of scanned receipts, pulling one chapter out of a manual, or breaking a file into parts small enough for an email or upload limit. If you only need to remove a few pages and keep the rest, Organize Pages is quicker because you can delete thumbnails visually. For a file that is too big rather than too long, Compress PDF usually helps more than splitting.

Frequently asked questions

Are my documents uploaded when I split a PDF?

No. The PDF is opened and split inside your browser using JavaScript. The new files are created in memory and saved directly to your device. No copy of your document is sent to or stored on any server.

How do I extract only certain pages from a PDF?

Choose Extract pages and type the pages you want, separated by commas, for example 2, 4-6, 9. Leave the separate-files box unticked to get one PDF containing just those pages, or tick it to get each range as its own PDF in a ZIP.

Can I split a PDF into individual pages?

Yes. Select the Every page mode and click Split PDF. You get a ZIP containing one PDF per page, named with the page number, such as document-p1.pdf, document-p2.pdf and so on.

Does splitting reduce the quality of the pages?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are stored in the original file, not converted to images, so text remains selectable and searchable and pictures keep their original resolution. File size per page stays about the same.

Is there a page or file size limit?

There is no set limit. Large PDFs with hundreds of pages split fine on a desktop browser. Phones have less memory, so a very large file may take longer or fail; splitting into fewer parts at a time can help.
