Choosing DPI and format for PDF to image conversion

Resolution decides how sharp the images are. A PDF page is measured in points (72 per inch), so at 72 DPI an A4 page becomes about 595 x 842 pixels, at 150 DPI about 1240 x 1754, and at 300 DPI about 2480 x 3508. Use 150 DPI for slides, social posts and documents viewed on screen, and 300 DPI if the images will be printed or you need to zoom into small text. Very large pages are capped at around 16 megapixels so the browser does not run out of memory.

Choose PNG when the page is mostly text, diagrams or screenshots, since it is lossless and keeps edges clean. Choose JPG for pages full of photos, where it produces much smaller files with little visible difference at quality 80 to 90. Converted images are named with the source file and a zero-padded page number, like report-page-03.png, so they stay in order in any folder. The pages are rendered by Mozilla's pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to convert PDF to JPG here?

Yes. The PDF is rendered to images by your own browser, and the images are created and downloaded locally. Your document is never uploaded, which matters for statements, contracts and other private files.

How do I convert PDF to JPG in high quality?

Select JPG, set the resolution to 300 DPI and move the quality slider to 90 or higher. For pages that are mostly text or line drawings, PNG at 200 or 300 DPI will give cleaner edges than JPG.

Can I convert just one page of a PDF to an image?

Yes. Type the page number in the Pages field, for example 5, or a list like 1, 4-6. Only those pages are rendered, which is faster. Leave the field empty to convert every page.

How do I download all the pages at once?

After conversion, click Download all (ZIP). All the images are packed into a single ZIP file named after your PDF. You can also download any single page with the button under its thumbnail.

Does PDF to JPG work on mobile?

Yes, in mobile Chrome, Safari and Firefox. High DPI settings on long documents use a lot of memory, so on a phone start with 150 DPI or convert a smaller page range at a time.
